Armenian Genocide to be the key theme of Cagliari conference

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 15, ARMENPRESS: A big pan-European campaign is planned in Sardinia Island, Italy, at the threshold of the Armenian Genocide centenary.

For that very purpose the 2nd international conference on Mediterranean policy will be held on October 24 and 25 in Italian city of Cagliari on the initiative of the Italian-Arab “Assadakah” center. One of the discussions will be entirely dedicated to the Armenian Genocide. As “Assadakah” center informed Armenpress, Italian and foreign political figures, scientists and journalists will take part in the discussions.

The discussions on the genocide will be held on October 25. That day will again be announced about the decision on proclaiming 2015 as Genocide Remembrance Year in Cagliari.

Cagliari Mayor Massimo Zedda, Armenian Ambassador to Italy Sargis Ghazaryan, Director of “Armenpress” news agency Aram Ananyan, researcher of University of Cagliari Nicola Melis,Responsible for the Foreign Affairs of the Center and military journalist Talal Khrais, Syrian journalist Naman Tarcha, “Sponda Sud” news agency’s editor on geopolitical issues, journalist Alessandro Aramu will deliver a speech at the conference.

Secretary-General of the Arab-Italian Assadakah Center Raimondo.Schiavone will be the coordinator of the discussions on the Armenian Genocide. The other discussions will be dedicated to new geopolitical developments in Mesopotamia, the role and significance of the mass media in war situations.

Italian-Arab “Assadakah” center has repeatedly came forth with pro-Armenian initiatives, the goal of which is to commemorate the horrible events committed in 1915 against the Armenians, who just wanted to defend their land and ancient culture from the Ottoman Empire. The center has proclaimed 2015 as Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day. It has even proposed the Council of Europe to proclaim the next year as Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.
