With Russia’s new law Armenians do not need to renounce dual citizenship

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 9, ARMENPRESS: There is no need to renounce the dual citizenship in case of changes related to the order of getting citizenship of other countries in Russia, Mnatsakan Bichakhchyan, the head of the Passport and Visa Department of the Police of the Republic of Armenia, told journalists on October 9, Armenpress reports.

“Amendments have been made in Russia’s citizenship law, according to which if the Russian citizen gets citizenship of another country, they should appropriately inform about it the Federal Migration Service. This caused confusion among our compatriots and there were many cases when they went to give up the Armenian citizenship,” he said.

Mnatsakan Bichakhchyan once again called on the Armenians having Russian citizenship to inform the Migration Service in case of receiving citizenship of another country.
