32-people contingent of Armenian peacekeepers getting prepared for Lebanon mission

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS: A 32-people contingent of the Armenian peacekeepers of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia will leave forLebanon for a mission, Commander of the Peacekeeping Brigadeof the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, Major-GeneralArthur Simonyan told Armenpress. “We are getting prepared, but do not know when we will get the order,” he said.

Negotiations were conducted with the United Nations and Defense Ministry of Italy on involving the Armenian brigade in the UNICEF peacekeeping mission related to deployment position, contingent’s structure,Technical support, etc. Armenia is involved in peacekeeping operations in Kosovo and Afghanistan.
