YEREVAN, JULY 30, ARMENPRESS. Armenian businessman and benefactor Levon Hayrapetyan’s case is at the center of attention of the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, and at the moment the specialists of the office are studying the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and at the same time are carrying out corresponding analysis in connection with the case and Hayrapetyan’s health condition. "The case is at the center of our attention, and if necessary, Karen Andreasyan will appeal to his Russian colleague. But here the problem is mainly related to the detention and the change of the measure of restraint, and the solution of the problem is under the jurisdiction of the Court, and in this regard the Office of the Human Rights Defender has no authority. If we receive information that while detained Levon Hayrapetyan’s rights are violated or he is tortured, the Office of the Human Rights Defender will do everything within its powers to support the Armenian businessman,” said the Head of Rapid Response Division of the Office of the Human Rights Defender Armen Grigoryan in a conversation with “Armenpress”.
Previously it was reported that the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation arrested Russia-resident rich Armenian businessman Levon Hayrapetyan. As reports “Armenpress” citing “Rosbalt”, Levon Hayrapetyan was detained on July 15 in Domodedovo Airport, where the airplane landed from Monaco.
The investigators transported the Armenian businessman to the Investigation Committee of the Russian Federation under special surveillance, where he was officially informed about the arrest.
The law enforcement authorities suspect Levon Hayrapetyan of having connections with the band led by criminal authority Sergey Finagin.
