YEREVAN, JULY 15, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian culinary traditions, such as the Armenian national dish dolma, will be introduced to the Armenian and foreign visitors in Sardarapat, showing that dolma is a dish of Armenian origin. This year "Udul" (grape leaves) Dolma Festival, held for the fourth time, will be marked by several circumstances. First of all, the festival is included in the list of tourist year events announced in the CIS countries, which will make it wider.
The Head of the Tourism Department of the Ministry of Economy Mekhak Apresyan believes that this will contribute to the growth of interest among the tourists towards this community in Armenia. "Such festivals play an important role in community development. They contribute to the revival of tourism, the development of local culture and cuisine, and, of course, presentation and preservation of national dishes in the communities. This is also a good example of presenting the monuments when the foreigners can participate in the festival, at the same time getting acquainted with the Armenian monuments", as reports “Armenpress”, said Apresyan. He recalled that for the first time it was at Dolma Festival that he learned that in Armenia more than 70 different types of dolma are made.
