YEREVAN, JUNE 9, ARMENPRESS. Yerevan is ready to host the People's Artist of the Soviet Union, Georgian actor, singer, screenwriter, producer and composer Vakhtang Kikabidze. On June 9, Gabriel Sundukyan National Academic Theater will host "My years are my wealth" concert dedicated to the artist's 75th anniversary. "This year is a year of Jubilee for me. No one knows what my health will be tomorrow, so we started with jubilee concerts in Kazakhstan, Greece, and now we have come to Yerevan. It is nice that I did not make the proposal to the Armenians, not to put them in an uncomfortable position. I was very happy when they called me and offered to perform in Yerevan" – as reports "Armenpress", in a press conference said Kikabidze.
Popular songs of the musician will be performed at the concert. "I've written a song about our yard, where 17 nationalities used to live. It's called "Guys”. Until I was about 5-6 years old, I thought they were all Georgians, only much later I realized that though everyone spoke Georgian, they were ethnic Russians, Armenians, Gypsies, Azeris, Kurds. There were also Italians, Greeks. We lived like that. There was no national discrimination. My second song was about the assumption that the Russians believed that the toast-master is a profession, and I called it "Drink till the end”.
"I never thought I would sing. I wanted to draw. I have a lot of artist friends and when I am free, I feel bad of going nothing, I go to their place and look how they draw. I am jealous. My mother was very concerned that if I became an artist, where would I draw - in our eight-square-meter room, or in the corridor? I appeared on the stage from the street, quite by chance... But when I first saw a square loudspeaker, it attracted me. I could not take it out of my mind. After that, no one saw me on the street” - said Kikabidze.
The favorite singer’s niece, Liza Bagrationi, will perform with him. In Georgia she is a famous pop singer. The concert is organized by "Mezzo Production" company. The next concert is scheduled in Batumi.
