Sergey Smbatyan to perform at Concert Hall of Mariinsky Theatre

YEREVAN, MAY 17, ARMENPRESS. On May 22 Sergey Smbatyan, the artistic director and principal conductor of the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia, is going to perform at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre within the framework of the Musical Olympus International Festival.

The Head of the Public Relations Department of the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia Meline Hakobyan informed “Armenpress” that during the evening headed by Sergey Smbatyan the Symphony Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre will perform jointly with the soloists Marc Bouchkov (violin), Hrachuhi Bassenz (soprano), Yuri Vlasov (bass). The concert program will include compositions by Andrei Petrov, Jean Sibelius, Giuseppe Verdi, Alexander Borodin, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Starting from 1996, the International Musical Olympus Festival has invited the most recent prize-winners of international competitions to St. Petersburg. The project provides music-lovers with the unique opportunity of hearing the world’s best young musicians and examine today’s standards and trends in the development of performing practice.
