YEREVAN, APRIL 10, ARMENPRESS. The project introduced by the professional commission on constitutional reforms under the President of the Republic of Armenia suggests a shift to the parliamentary system of governance.
It is suggested that the President of the republic should be elected by the National Assembly on a term of 7 years, without the right to be re-elected, from the non-partisan candidates having suffrage. His main mission will be the supervision of the preservation of the Constitution, the efficient application of balancing and suppressing authorities, which is possible only when he has no direct involvement in the current political issues, is free of party obligations, is impartial and plays a role of a peacemaker and intermediator, having the important mission of providing the dynamic balance of development of the country.
