Catherine Ashton’s visit to Armenian Church in New Julfa raises hysteria in Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, MARCH 14, ARMENPRESS:Azerbaijan continues to make various statements by its official and unofficial levers which just prove its diplomatic and international non civilization. The recent visit of High Commissioner on Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the EU Catherine Ashton to Armenian Church in Iran did not leave the Azerbaijani officials indifferent. Armenpress reports citing the Azerbaijani APA agency that Deputy Head of the President’s staff of Azerbaijan Novruz Mammadov displaying uncivilized attitude regarded it necessary to comment on the actions of the EU High Representative. “Respectable Ashton seems to promise visiting Armenian churches in all the countries where she goes,” Novruz Mammadov wrote in his micro blog of Twitter.

High Representative on EU Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton visited St. Amenaprkich Monastery in New Julfa on March 10. The members of the delegation first visited “Saint Joseph Arematatsi” church of St. Amenaprkich Monastery. Ashton and the other members of the delegation listened to songs, then and watched the colorful frescoes of the church.
