YEREVAN, MARCH 10, ARMENPRESS: Deputy of “the Republican Party of Armenia” Faction of the National Assembly Vardan Ayvazyan stresses the importance of creating a joint investigative body. In a conversation with the journalists in the National Assembly Vardan Ayvazyan stated that it will be possible to provide the independence of the investigative body in that way which is of great significance. “It is very important to have an independent investigative body which will not depend on any Department,” Vardan Ayvazyan stated as reported by Armenpress.
He did not agree with the observation that there is no need to create a joint investigative body since there are a lot of uncovered cases in the country. “There are uncovered cases not only in Armenia, but in all the countries. This does not mean that we should not create this body. The investigative body will receive its assessment by the society in terms of such cases,” he said.
In response to the question whether the former Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan will be appointed in the position of the Chairman of the joint investigative body, Vardan Ayvazyan underscored that they should not connect the establishment of the system with individuals. He noted that he does not know who will be the Chairman of the structure, as it does not exist yet.
