Numerous events to mark Hamo Sahyan's 100th jubilee

YEREVAN, MARCH 5, ARMENPRESS. A number of events will be held on the 100th jubilee of prominent Armenian poet Hamo Sahyan. “Hamo Sahyan Scientific-Cultural Centre” NGO will hold a row of celebrations dedicated to the Armenian poet. Festive events will not be held merely on Hamo Sahyan’s birthday celebrated on April 14, but during the entire year.

In a conversation with “Armenpress”, the head of “Hamo Sahyan Scientific-Cultural Centre” NGO Shchors Davtyan noted that after spending 25 years with the legendary poet, he has become one of those people, who dedicate their lives to the dissemination of Sahyan’s legacy. Upon the initiative of the head of “Hamo Sahyan Scientific-Cultural Centre” NGO Shchors Davtyan, a row of events will be held, due to which the public will have another opportunity to evaluate the poet’s heritage.

Hamo Sahyan was born on April 14, 1914, in Lor village, Syunik. He was an Armenian poet and translator.

He finished pedagogical institute in 1939. In 1941 he returned to Yerevan, then served in the Soviet Navy during World War II. He worked in "Avangard" and "Vozni" newspapers, edited "Grakan tert". The first collection of his poems was published in 1946. Sahyan was awarded by the State Prize of Armenia for his "Sezam, batsvir" (1972) book.
