YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 6, ARMENPRESS: To develop the palliative care, Armenia makes the analgesic drugs more affordable and eliminates the limitations of the doctors appointing the drugs. Corresponding changes were made in the law on “Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances”, which will enable to improve the quality of life of the people, who need palliative care. “The legislative changes envisage the organization of the educational programs, which will provide the doctors with confidence and will explain the mechanisms, the preservation of which will allow the doctors to appoint narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances to those, who need it”, - said the Head of Staff of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Armenia Suren Krmoyan.
According to Krmoyan, one of the prior tasks for the Ministry is the continuation of the implementation of four pilot programs directed to the palliative care. “The mentioned programs are located in the National Oncology Center after Fanarjyan, Ararat Medical Center, the University Clinics #1 of the Yerevan State Medical University after Heratsi, the Hospital Complex after Areshyan #1 of Vanadzor. At present we are trying to attract funds to train the specialists also in the remote regions, especially in Tavush and Syunik”, - said the Head of Staff of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Armenia.
