Armenia's National Security Service suspends attempt to provide information to Azerbaijani secret agencies

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 5, ARMENPRESS. The former worker of the Police of the Republic of Armenia, Police colonel, resident of Yerevan Khachik Y. Martirosyan (born in 1953) was arrested on January 31 of the current year, due to the investigation and search operations of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia.

The Press Centre of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia informed “Armenpress” thatthe National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia acquired irrefutable evidences, which prove that Khachik Martirosyan applied to the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Georgia upon his own initiative and got in touch with the workers of the Azerbaijani special agencies acting under the auspices of the embassy and offered them his services.

The Azerbaijani special agencies ordered Khachik Martirosyan to acquire information of military character. Khachik Martirosyan made practical steps for the realization of those orders. Martirosyan intended to pass the information he received to the Azerbaijanis, but the relevant departments of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia suspended the attempt. The Investigatory Department of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia filed a criminal case against Khachik Martirosyan. Preliminary investigation has been launched.
