Number of smokers to be reduced in Armenia due to tobacco advertising ban

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 27, ARMENPRESS. The Government of the Republic of Armenia develops and implements a program regarding the fight against smoking aimed at preaching the health promotion. The project of the Government of the Republic of Armenia on making amendments in Law of the Republic of Armenia “On Advertizing” has not been discussed in the National Assembly yet, but in case of its ratification tobacco advertising on TV and Radio will be banned in Armenia.

In a conversation with “Armenpress” the Deputy Director of the National Healthcare Institute Alexander Bazarchyan stated that the international experience proves that the majority of countries, which have recorded serious success in the healthcare system, entirely ban tobacco advertising.
