Armenian Justice Minister hosted CoE Commissioner for Human Rights

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 21, ARMENPRESS: The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Hrayr Tovmasyan hosted the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe Nils Muižnieks on October 21, who has arrived to Armenia to participate in the High Level Conference on Combating Racism, Xenophobia and Intolerance in Europe organized in the framework of Armenia’s Presidency at the Ministerial Committee of the Council of Europe on October 21-22 in Yerevan.
The Department for Mass Media and Public Relations of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia informed Armenpress that the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe asked for a meeting with Hrayr Tovmasyan to get information on the current situation of the human rights protection in the country.
The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Hrayr Tovmasyan presented the guest the current situation of the human rights in Armenia, as well as the reforms made in the field. “The amendments in any field are subject to failure without the implementation of the reforms in the judiciary”, - said Hrayr Tovmasyan.
The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe Nils Muižnieks assumed his position on April 1 2012 and this is his first visit to the Republic of Armenia.
