YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 20, ARMENPRESS: Aleppo, populated by Armenians, has been deprived from electricity for 3-4 days. People have electricity only 1-2 hours a day. Armenpress was informed about it by its source from Aleppo. The same source noted as well that it is a “jailed” situation, as the phone communication also functions irregularly and the Internet has been disconnected for already a month.

There are not any collisions in the center of Aleppo but the shots and bombings in the suburbs have become more frequent, due to which the number of victims and wounded has considerably increased. The purchase of food has become quite difficult and with higher prices. The authorities try to keep the situation under control.

Concerning the information spread in the Internet that 130 Christians have been killed nearby Aleppo, including Armenians, our source has not confirmed the news.

By the UN data, during the two-year bloodshed in Syria since March 15 2011 more than 100 thousands of people have fallen victims. Currently 4,5 million refugees live in Syria and 1,5 million – in the neighboring countries. Several tens of Armenians have been killed in the result of the collisions. Notwithstanding that difficult situation, many Syrian Armenians continue leaving in Syria. The governmental forces try to liberate Aleppo from the opposition. Every day heated collisions and bombings are taking place, causing sufferings of the peaceful population, the Armenians as well.
