The star of Charles Aznavour was opened in Yerevan

YEREVAN, JULY 7, ARMENPRESS: The jubilee start of 10th international film festival “Golden Apricot” was marked in the square after Charles Aznavour by opening his own “star”. The event gathered the guests of the festival, world famous film directors, public-cultural figures, politicians and simply ordinary Armenians.

At the event was present the legendary singer. “I will obviously speak a little in Armenian. Only one thing has not changed: my height is the same,” joked Aznavour, thanking everybody, reports “Armenpress”.

“Dear friends, respectable Charles we are very happy that we open a star after you in the square which carries your name which will symbolize the great Armenian, great artist, Armenia and Armenians, great ambassador of French language,” said Foreign affairs minister of the Republic of Armenia Edward Nalbandian. In his words the star will symbolize all the little stars which we have in our hearts.

During the last “Golden Apricots” in the square after Aznavour were already put the stars of Hamo Beknazaryan, Henri Verneuil, Sergey Parajanov and Ruben Mamulyan.

Charles Aznavour is one of honorable guests of the jubilee festival. On July 6 he visited Holy See saint Etchmiadzin with foreign minister Edward Nalbandian.
