Azerbaijani authorities decision granting pardon to the murder contradicts to international law: Nikolay Bordiuja

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 3, ARMENPRESS: The decision of granting pardon to Armenian officer assassinate by Azerbaijani authorities contradicts international law standards and cast doubt on interstate system activities. Collective Security Treaty Organization Secretary General Nicolay Bordiuja came forth with a statement released on September 3,
''This step done obviously based on political situation must in no case be justified. Moreover the heroism of criminal may contribute to the increase of already existing regional tension. I am sure international society will soon come with objective assessmnet'' Bordiuja told.
On February 19 of 2004 in Budapest Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov slayed with an ax Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan when the latter was sleeping. The two officers were taking part in English language courses in framework of NATO program in Budapest. Hungarian court sentenced Ramil Safarov to life imprisonment, without a right to be pardoned during the first 30 years in jail. Yet in 2012 September 31, the criminal was extradited to Azerbaiajan and was granted to pardon by the President of the country. Armenia has suspended its diplomatic relations with Hungary.
