Two Armenian chess players aspire to high places

Yerevan, August 9, ARMENPRESS: Armenian Grandmaster Samvel Ter-Sahakyan played draw with Nils Gradelius in the 7th round of the up to 20-year-old chess players’ world Championship and shares 2-4th places with Chinese Yu Yang and Armenian Karen Grigoryan with 5.5 points each in this tournament.

“Armenpress” was informed about this by the Armenian Chess Federation.

Ter-Sahakyan played with white figures.

Karen Grigoryan with black figures shared the score with Alexander Shimanov, and Vahe Baghdasaryan defeated Spiridon Naum with white figures and has 4 points, taking 52nd place.

The tournament leader is Turkish Alexander Ipatov with 6 points.

The tournament is held in the Greece capital Athens: 130 participants from 54 countries participate in the championship.

Armenian woman chess player Shushanna Sargsyan defeated Izelin-Amanda Lilichi with black figures and is now in the 42nd place being behind the leader Anastasia Bodnaruk with 2.5 points.
