Second church is being repaired in Van

YEREVAN, AUGUST 9, ARMENPRESS: Van’s Governorate has precipitated works in the direction of Van’s lake Ktuts island’s church. The initiative aimed at rehabilitation of Armenian churches is made by Turkish Government. Two years ago Surb Khach church situated in Van’s Aghtamar island was also renovated by the finance of Turkish Government, Armenpress reports citing Turksih mass media.
Ktuts Church operated till 1915. Regardless the church was substantially damaged by devastating earthquake in 1720 in the Ottoman Empire, Ktuts Church survived it, remained standing until the years of the Armenian Genocide. Turkish experts state Ktuts Church was not damaged in the course of strong earthquakes hit the city in 2011 October and November.
It is mentioned that Turkish authorities initiated the renovation of the church for developing tourism in Van.
