Armenia overcame global financial crisis. Prime Minister

YEREVAN, JUNE 15, ARMENPRESS: Armenia has no alternative in the region than spurring economy based on science; reportedly the intellect and the educated people must become main resource of it. Information technologies (IT) swift development in our country is the live example of it.Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan participated in “Digitech” business forum, launched in capital Yerevan.

“Armenian national economy acquires natural and normal performance. The latest report of the World Bank states Armenia has moved for six steps ahead in this direction. It was also noted in the article that our country has overcome global economic crisis successfully” Tigran Sargsyan concluded.

In the words of the head of the Executive body the analysts took into consideration that our economy currently is more diversified as compared with 2008, and surely in that context its resistance has increased, Armenpress reports.

In PM’s opinion IT sphere had its leading role in that context. In 2009 while construction industry made 42 %, IT sector recorded 27 % growth.“These growth rates have been stable during the last 5 years. As a result, the number employed people in the IT field is equal to the number of employed people in the mining sector, the wages are higher as well. This is an important factor for us, hence information technologies raise the productivity of all the branches of the economy, which surely means we are going to have more diversified and powerful economy, ready to new challenges” Tigran Sargsyan concluded.

Two-day –business-forum is aimed at promoting innovation economy and presentation of ICT products and services. Current year forum has recorded 48 % growth participation , overall 59 local organizations and 21 foreign companies participated in the forum .
