Icons form bridge between God and man

YEREVAN, JUNE 13, ARMENPRESS: Icons and its application in the church are as old as the church itself. In Armenian Apostolic church the icons are in the form of canvases, which are decorating the holy Table, the columns, and the walls of the churches. We usually pray and lit candles in front of those icons. For Liana Arakelyan, Ararat patriarchal diocese and miniature Union Office teacher this is not simply specialty but lifestyle.

“Getting teacher’s and clothing model’s specialty, by years I felt desire to serve the God and decided to learn icon painting”, Arakelyan told at the briefing with the Armenpresss journalist. The interlocutor noted she could have not imagined that after protecting the research paper in St. Hovhannes Kozern education cultural center, years later icon painting will become her favorite hobby.In the words of the specialist the people’s interest towards her icon painting increases.

Liana assures icon painting is one of the best ways to approach the God. The main skills of her specialty she transfers to her students with gratitude, performs joint exhibitions.Icon-painting demands no age limit.

The specialist informs that the person should study the icon items transferred from generation to generation, get acquainted with the conduct of the Saint, whom they are going to depict and only then start painting icons.

Liana considers that no matter it is possible to acquire icon painting skills in a year or two; longer period is needed for mastering the profession fully.

The icon is blessed and consecrated only after becomes applicable in the church. The icon paintings in difference with the rest paintings are created accompanied by performing prayer.

In accordance with the charter of Armenian Apostolic church Charter icons are the inseperatable part of the church.
