PAP to nominate candidates in majority election system only in 20-25 electoral constituencies, newspaper says.

The daily Haykakan Zhamanak says according to its sources the Prosperous Armenia Party headed by Tsraukyan is going to nominate candidates in majority election system only in 20-25 electoral constituencies. The paper says MP from the PAP Naira Zohrabyan neither declined nor confirmed the information. In response to the question of the paper’s correspondent she said “discussions over majority nominations are not over yet”.
The daily Zhoghovurd writes at its yesterday’s [February 15] sitting the political council of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) discussed the results of the elections of Hrazdan mayor and issues connected with the further strategy of the ANC. The paper says speaker of the ANC Arman Musinyan told the daily that they also discussed issues connected with March 1 rally, they also touched upon issues on formation of proportional list.
The daily Yerkir writes in 2011 about 19706 marriages were registered against 17984 of 2010. Head of ethnography department at the Labor and Social Affairs Ministry Vanik Babajanyan told the daily the biggest number of marriages starting from 2000 has been registered in 2011. Babajanyan told the daily that in 2000 10986 marriages were registered and statistics shows that the index grows from year to year. The paper says according to him the growth in marriages will continue in the coming years as well. Babajanyan told the daily the level of divorces has remained the same.
The daily Hraparak writes the statement of the ex foreign minister Vartan Oskanyan to become member of the PAP has become wide issue of discussion in Armenian media. Certain Armenian websites though refer to the issue very carefully. The paper says membership of the ex FM to the PAP may have two possible consequences – either Oskanian will politicize the PAP with himself, or the PAP will depoliticize Oskanian.
