The preventive measures towards the elections frauds highlighted

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 10, ARMENPRESS: Today, RA Prosecutor General A. Hovsepyan met with U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern. Deputy Prosecutor General Armen Danielyan and US Embassy Regional Legal Advisor Steve Kessler participated in the meeting.

Press office of the General Prosecutor's Office told Armenpress the sides discussed the general issues on the development of cooperation. The Prosecutor General touched upon the preparation works carried out by the law enforcement bodies for the upcoming parliamentary elections. He gave details of the prosecutorial supervision experience in receiving, registering and discussing the statements made on election frauds and mentioned that the working group being formed in the system of the Prosecutor's Office will pursue the goal of proper registration and discussion of all the statements made on election frauds as well as the discussion of the media publications and will give operative response.

A. Hovsepyan highlighted the importance of taking preventive measures towards decreasing the elections frauds and informed that the RA General Prosecutor's Office, on its own initiative, is making a video which will inform the public about those types of election frauds that suppose imprisonment. "The General Prosecutor's Office has resolution, intention and will pursue the goal that the persons who break the law will be called to criminal to criminal responsibility", said A. Hovsepyan and expressed hope the video will have preventive significance.

Besides, the RA General Prosecutor's Office plans to organize public discussions on the procedures of the presentation, registration and discussion of the statements on elections frauds.

The steps taken towards the struggle against the criminality were also discussed by highlighting the cooperation in the struggle against the transnational and latent crimes and the development of national abilities. In the context the Prosecutor General mentioned that there is a operative implementation of experiments on separate crimes and stressed the importance of the experimental laboratories in the regions of Armenia which reveal the type of the drug. These laboratories will enable to strengthen the struggle against the illegal turnover of narcotic drugs and to increase the value of the struggle.
