The daily Haykakan Zhamanak writes newly-elected mayor of Ijevan Vardan Ghalumyan tried to pass December 22 to the implementation of his duties but faced an impediment: he was said that his authorities start from December 25. Ghalumyan though insists that authorities of the acting mayor V. Nersisyan must have been completed December 21 as the latter assumed the post on that day four years ago. The paper decided to clear it out whether it is so or not and asked chairwoman of Tavush province’s relevant electoral constituency Aida Sargsyan. The paper says the latter though told the paper’s correspondent that she did not find in the archives decision of the victory of Varuzhan Nersisyan at the elections.

The paper says nevertheless Vardan Ghalumyan hopes that today the representatives of the governor’s office will introduce him to the staff of the municipality and will allow passing to the implementation of his duties.

The daily Haykakan Zhamanak also writes that the time of the opening of Stepanakert airport is being postponed every time and different dates are being noted. The daily says it tried to find out from the head of the central information office of the Artsakh President Davit Babayan when the airport will open. “The postponement is only of technical nature, now it is almost ready. I think it will open in 2012. It will soon open,” the paper quoted Babayan as saying.

The daily Hayots Ashkhar writes that speaking to the paper MP Naira Zohrabyan said that Prosperous Armenia party within the circles of its authorities will do everything possible so that the coming parliamentary elections correspond to democratic standards. “If the other political forces are consecutive in this issue, I think we will be able, we are obliged to solve this issue. Otherwise, I may assure you, the consequences will be very grave for Armenia,” the paper quoted her as saying.
