The daily Zhoghovurd writes that chairman of the Consumers Association Armen Poghosyan noted that usually on the eve of the holidays 2-2.5% inflations is being registered in Armenia. “It is difficult to make any forecasts but there will be certain changes, especially in the sphere of food,” the daily cited him as saying. According to him, it is necessary to be a little bit consecutive not to repeat the last year’s scenario and so that no deficit be created. “Usually it is trade policy. The product is being kept to be sold with higher prices. It has become a tradition in Armenia,” the daily quoted Poghosyan as saying.
The daily Haykakan Zhamanak writes that in spite of the call of the religious leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan to withdraw snipers from the line of contact so that no blood is shed any more, the shooting in the line of contact continued. “Everyday shootings continue,” Senor Hasratyan told the daily.
The daily Hayots Ashkhar writes that during the two years of the financial-economic crisis from 2008-2009 the number of poor people in Armenia increased by 270 thousand, making 1.2 million people, the report of the Armenian National Statistical Service says. The daily writes in 2010 the poverty level in Armenia was 35.8% against 27.6% of the 2008. The level of extreme poverty in 2010 made 3.0% against 1.6% of the 2008.
