PM: We are planning to conduct the most transparent and fair elections in the 20-year old history of independent Armenia

BRUSSELS, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS:

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, participating in the assembly of the European Peoples' Party, referred to the coming parliamentary elections in Armenia. "We are planning to conduct the most transparent and fair elections in the 20-year old history of independent Armenia," Tigran Sargsyan said. In this issue the prime minister rated high the new Electoral Code, Law on Public Services which will make the activity of the state officials transparent.

Armenpress correspondent reports from Brussels that the head of the government spoke during the EPP assembly about the European integration policy of Armenia, prospects of the RPA membership to the EPP. The head of the government referred to the economic and structural reforms implemented in Armenia. "Today changes in the world take place more quickly than ever. Consequently Armenia must speed up the implementation of reforms and institutional replacing. It is clear that EU's technical and financial assistance plays a significant role in ensuring speeded-up and essential progress," the prime minister said.

Tigran Sargsyan said in this pre-context the EU's Eastern partnership is a viable tool that can promote the transformation process. "We reaffirm our intention to develop more the economic and political integration with the EU. Currently we are negotiating with the EU over the Association Agreement, and are launching the talks over Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement," the prime minister said.

Tigran Sargsyan noted that with the assistance of the EU serious reforms are being implemented which are noticeable in all the spheres of the public life. In his speech the prime minister referred to the regional issues and Armenian-Turkish relations, reiterating the readiness of the official Yerevan to establish relations with Ankara without pre-conditions.

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan is in Brussels for a working visit. On the second day of the visit he had a working launch with the deputies of the European parliament, partook in the assembly of the EPP and received members of the European Friends of Armenia group.
