The daily Haykakan Zhamanak writes that the most possible candidate for the post of the NA Chairman remains deputy chairman Samvel Nikoyan. The daily says among the candidates were also Galust Sahakyan and Davit Harutyunyan. The paper says according to its sources Galust Sahakyan refused to take this office and the chairman of the state legal affairs standing committee Davit Harutyunyan told the reporters that the office is not vacant yet for forwarding candidates. The paper says that he also stated that he is indifferent to this post. The daily says according to Harutyunyan there are not going to conduct extraordinary elections and Hovik Abrahamyan said that the regular elections will be conducted May 6 2012.

The semi-weekly 168 Zham writes that according to the information at its disposal yesterday a final decision was made to appoint Yenok Azaryan, member of the Republican Party of Armenia faction of the Yerevan Council of Elders, as vice mayor of Yerevan. The paper reminds that before it talks about the appointment of another member of the RPA faction Naira Nahapetyan were circulating. The paper says the thing is that the first deputy mayor of Yerevan must be member of the Council of Elders. The semi-weekly says it has learnt that Primate of the Araratyan Diocese of the Armenian Church Archbishop Navasard (Samvel) Ktchoyan, who is known also as “Bentley Samo”, has interfered in the issue of appointment of Azaryan.

The daily Hayots Ashkhar writes that the serious staff changes and reshufflings in the highest circles of the authorities are being differently commented by the political forces, society and mass media. The paper says some are inclined to see in it expression of fight inside authorities, or more likely hidden competition between the former and present first persons, the others testimony of implementation of some commitments Armenian authorities have assumed in front of international organizations, the third ones see the beginning of process for getting prepared to the new harbor of global economic crisis.

The paper says such explanations are not only wrong but make more difficult the very simple and understandable reality – the coming of regular parliamentary elections in May 2012. The paper says now when even the leader of the radical opposition confesses that there will not be any snap elections and that the outcome of the political fight will be decided in May 2012, the authorities have started getting prepared to it from today.
