The daily Haykakan Zhamanak writes that Azerbaijan is planning to raise the issue of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict at the UN Security Council. The paper says for coming forth with such initiative Azerbaijan will try to get the assistance of five permanent members of the UN SC. The paper says it was stated by the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov at the joint press conference with his Georgian counterpart Grigol Vashadze. According to Mammadyarov Azerbaijan’s objective is “withdrawal of the Armenian troops from the occupied territories”. The paper says Mammadyarov also noted that from 2012 May till 2013 September Azerbaijan will chair the UN SC which will facilitate the opportunity of including NK issue in the agenda.
The daily Haykakan Zhamanak also writes that yesterday news was circulating in the parliament that today or tomorrow the Republican Party of Armenia is going to convene a sitting and discuss the issue of withdrawing the Prosperous Armenia Party from the coalition. The paper says spokesman for the RPA Eduard Sharmazanov stated that he does not posses such information.
The daily Zhoghovurd writes that according to the information it has mayor of Yerevan Karen Karapetyan has filed a resignation application but President Serzh Sargsyan urged him to wait till the departure of Mayor of France and then state about it. The paper said the news about resignation of the mayor will be publicized on Monday. The paper says it failed to find out why the mayor that felt so much “drive” decided to resign. The paper says spokesperson of mayor Shushan Sardaryan rejected the news about the resignation of the mayor. The daily claims it has learnt that Karen Karapetyan has been offered a high post in Moscow and will leave from Yerevan.
