The daily Haykakan Zhamanak writes that Special Investigation Service petitioned to the Court of First Instance of capital Yerevan’s Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts with a motion to extend the detention term of former chief of road police Margar Ohanyan for two months.
The paper says Margar Ohanyan is charged with abuse of official position and large-scale embezzlement of property, and he is in prison since August 30.
The paper also writes that President Serzh Sargsyan is departing November 1 on three-day official visit to Georgia. Haykakan Zhamanak writes that it was reported by spokesperson of the Georgian president Manana Manjgaladze. The paper says no details of the visit are being reported. During the recent period serious tension is noticed in the Armenian-Georgian relations which was particularly expressed with rather tough statement of official Tbilisi connected with the elections of local self-governmental bodies in the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh, the late message of Saakashvili on 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, the statement of their Diaspora Minister about territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, not respecting reciprocal arrangements in UN, etc. So, says the daily, during this visit a certain clarification will be made in the Armenian-Georgian relations.
