The daily Haykakan Zhamanak writes that from tomorrow till October 21 population census will be conducted in the whole territory of Armenia. The paper claims that according to the information at its disposal the authorities decided irrespective of the result of population census declare the number of people in Armenia 3 million and more. The paper says according to the official information of the National Statistical Service in 2008 the number of population was less than 3 million and in 2009 it became 3 million 35 thousand. While, continues the daily, according to even the official information in 2008 and after it few tens of thousand of people emigrated from Armenia.
The semi-weekly 168 Zham writes about the suicide of 19-year old conscript Vladimir Asatryan in one of the military units of Karabakh. The paper says according to the information at its disposal the arrest of several people who led him to commit suicide is expected. Under the title Does “Sberbank” have an eye on “Ameriabank” the daily Orakarg writes about the visit of the head of “Sberbank” administration German Gref October 8. The paper says the visit of head of one of biggest Russian banks has remained almost unnoticeable at the Armenian mass media. The paper says according to the press office of the president meeting of Serzh Sargsyan, German Gref and Ruben Vardanyan took place during which they discussed opportunities of development of cooperation. The sources from the banking system note that “Sberbank” may more probably enter the system becoming shareholder of “Ameriabank”.
