The daily Haykakan Zhamanak claims that a scandal is rising in Armenian-Georgian relations. The paper says the thing is that President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili did not congratulate Serzh Sargsyan on the occasion of 20th anniversary of Armenia’s independence, when even President of Turkey Abdullah Gul sent a congratulatory message.

The paper says days ago the supply of gas to Armenia has been suspended and in the background of the above mentioned situation the official explanations that the suspension of the gas supply is of technical nature look less credible.

The daily also says that for rather a long time Georgia has banned the shipment of arms from Russia to Armenia through its territory.

The daily Aravot writes that the public relations department of the Justice Ministry’s Criminal Executive Department came forth September 23 with the explanation connected with the rights of arrestees to have mobile phones or other means of communication. The paper says at the same time the department reported that in “Nubarashen” as well as in its criminal executive establishments devices are being placed to disturb the mobile communication. The paper says the operation of these devices is being tested.

The daily Azg writes that speaker of the Azerbaijani Mili Mejlis OktayAsadov voiced hope in Ankara that with the brotherly assistance of Turkey in near future “an end will be given to the occupation of their lands”. The paper says exactly on the next day Recep Tayyip Erdogan from the UN rostrum considered inadmissible the unsettlement of the NK issue. Of course, continues the daily, it is the “brotherly assistance” of Turkey to Azerbaijan. But the paper questions whether everything is so unequivocal as it may seem.

The paper claims that Turkish ambassador to Baku Kilicopenly stated that Azerbaijan should review the level of relations with Israel. No official response was received from Azerbaijan. Instead, the paper says publications appeared in the Azerbaijani authority-oriented mass media which included “pinches” addressed to Turkey.

The paper says an interesting situation has been created: on one hand Azerbaijan is almost demanding from Turkey consider NK issue as “its own and undertake steps” but the official Baku in international instances does not balance its position with Ankara. Particularly, the daily says, the Cyprus issue has become a trial stone in the Turkish-Azerbaijani relations. Azerbaijan is not publicly defending the “Trial of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”. Of course the reason is obvious: Baku has not recognized Kosovo’s independence as well despite Turkey’s position in this issue.

But the game cannot last forever: the Turkish party seems to make understand that it is not going to fit its national-state interests to Azerbaijan caprices.
