The daily Azg writes that special representative of the Russian foreign ministry Alexander Lukashevich stated that “Russia, as it is known, does not recognize Nagorno Karabakh as an independent state”. Commenting on the elections of local self-governmental bodies in Artsakh September 18, Lukashevich stated that “We believe that the conduction of elections in Nagorno Karabakh cannot have its impact on the peaceful settlement of the conflict”. The paper says Lukashevich also reminded that Russia continues active mediation addressed toward settlement of the conflict.
The daily Haykakan Zhamanak writes that the head of the Yerevan department of the RA police Nerses Nazaryan speaking to the reporter of the daily shrugged off the rumors about his soon arrest like it was done with Margar Ohanyan and Hovhannes Tamamyan. The paper says it will publish the interview with Nazaryan at tomorrow’s issue.
The daily Haykakan Zhamanak writes that on September 4, the Yeghegnadzor medical center reported another newborn's death.The paper says the mother was under supervision of Metaksya Hovhannisyan, head of the Vaik maternity hospital. The paper reminds that the same doctor was involved in another incident this August: a newborn was transported from Vaik to Yerevan in a grave state. However, the Yerevan doctors proved unable to save the babe's life. Doctor Hovhannisyan was in charge of the case, and the woman's relatives brought various accusations against.
The paper says Karine Saribekyan, Head of the Maternity and Child Care Department, Armenia's Ministry of Health, told the newspaper that experts investigated the Sept. 4 case and presented preliminary results. They reported intrauterine pneumonia of the fetus, which caused its death. No medical error was reported. Moreover, according to Saribekyan, the Yeghegnadzor doctors actually saved the woman's life.
