The daily Hayots Ashkhar writes that the military parade September 21 will show the achievements of the army of Armenia during the 20 years of its independence. The paper says this statement was made by the spokesman of the defense minister Davit Karapetyan. The daily says according to him no big expenses were made as Armenia shows what it already has in its Armed Forces. “I think instead of speculations we must be happy with the success of our victorious and strong army”, the paper cited him as saying.

The semi-weekly 168 Zham writes that head of the Regional studies center, political analyst Richard Kirakosyan stated that Armenia is really independent, but it is independent from democracy. “While today Armenia is dependent, it is dependent on corruption. Let’s not sound it strange but the government itself is dependent on corruption and oligarchs as the latter decide how many tax to pay to the state budget”, the paper cited him as saying. Richard Kirakosyan said it is also necessary to review the content of relationship with Russia. “Armenia is the only country in the world that does not take money for the deployment of foreign military base in its territory, moreover it has taken the expenses on itself”, the paper quoted him.

The daily Haykakan Zhamank writes that on the initiative of Azerbaijan issues on “Situation in the Azerbaijani occupied territories” and “Lasting conflicts in GUAM region and their impact on the international peace, security and development” were included in the agenda of the 66th sitting of the UN General Assembly. The paper says the decision was made at the September 16 sitting. The daily reports that the issues will be heard within the framework of “Preservation of International Peace and Security” discussion.
