The semi-weekly 168 Zham writes that in one of the secret documents published by “Wikileaks” a reference is being made on the process of settlement of the Armenian-Turkish relations and on Ilham Aliev’s extremely negative attitude toward Yerevan-Ankara rapprochement process.
The paper writes that the April 7 2009 document presents the details of the meeting between that time US ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Derse and Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic. The paper says at the meeting the Turkish ambassador asked the US side to persuade the official Baku that after the opening of the Armenian-Turkish border the talks over the Karabakh conflict settlement will continue. The paper says the Turkish ambassador noted that the Azerbaijani side clearly stated that if Turkey wanted to get Baku’s consent in the issue of the opening of the border it must demand from Armenia accepting the basic principles.
The daily Aravot writes that Nairi Hunanian, who is serving his life sentence on the October 27 case, applied to court a few days ago for revision of his punishment. The paper says he petitioned for a public defender to provide legal advice to him. The lawyer Tigran Grigoryan represented Nairi Hunanyan's interests, however, the life-termer's petition was denied. The paper claims it has also learnt that Edik Grigoryan, who is serving his term on the same case, is preparing a similar petition as well. The paper says his defender Karo Aghajanyan confirmed the information.
The daily Haykakan Zhamanak writes that during the eight months of the running year the number of people that departed from Armenia exceed the people arriving in the republic by 62 thousand. The number of people departing through automobiles during the eight months of this year is by 25000 more than those arriving, says the paper. The daily says the figures are taken from the National Statistical Service. The paper says they show that the number of people leaving the republic exceeds those arriving by 87 thousand. The paper says it is beyond doubt that the majority of these people are citizens that emigrated from Armenia. The daily says if this dynamics continues by the end of the year the number of emigrants may reach 100 thousand
