YEREVAN, JULY 19, ARMENPRESS: The Lyon Park, symbolizing the Yerevan-Lyon friendship, opened today ceremonially at Erebuni administrative district of Yerevan.
An official from the information and PR department of Yerevan Municipality told Armenpress that Mayor of Yerevan Karen Karapetyan and Senator-Mayor of Lyon Gérard Collomb cut the red ribbon. The park opened within the framework of the 2008-2011 cooperation program, signed between the municipalities of Yerevan and Lyon. The works for thorough reconstruction kicked off 2010. The second round of the works is intended as well. The mayor of Yerevan said he sure the park will become one of the favorite places for Yerevan-dwellers.
"This park is a very good example of cooperation. The programs we intend to implement here, I am sure, will help to make the park one of the best corners of Yerevan. This is the end of this stage, yet is the start of another one," Karen Karapetyan said.
Gérard Collomb said French people love Armenia very much and "it is these friendly relations that are being strengthened today".
The visitors and the mayors of Yerevan and Lyon followed the surfing demonstrative event at the park's pool.
