The daily Azg writes 54 800 Armenians received Russian citizenship in 2009, taking the second place in the list of people getting RF citizenship. According to the annual report, the number of people getting citizenship in Russia has noticeably increased. The paper makes comparison saying that in 2001 19 267 received Russian passports, in 2005 their number increased thrice. The paper says during the past nine years 272 000 Armenians received Russian citizenship.
The daily Haykakan Zhamanak writes in its recent report relating to Armenia the experts of the International Monetary Fund came to a sad conclusion connected with the poverty rate in Armenia and especially children's poverty and its consequences. "The poverty in Armenia increased from 23.5% till 34.5% the poverty among children is higher 38.1%", the report says. The paper says according IMF experts, "hardly children will manage to develop their physical and intellectual skills" in conditions of absence of healthcare services and school. The paper says the report registers that as a result "Armenia's potential weakens in a long-term prospect".
