The daily Hayots Ashkhar cited Vahram Atanesyan, NKR member of parliament, as saying that Azerbaijan has exhausted all the diplomatic arguments. "Irrespective of the attitude of independent mediators the fact is that from the established 3 basic principles the Azerbaijani side accepts only one – the principle of territorial integrity. I think Azerbaijan has exhausted all its diplomatic resources and the intensification of provocations on the line of contact are agreed with it", the speaker said.
The semi-weekly 168 Zham writes that before the meeting of the presidents of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan in early June in Moscow, the OSCE Minsk group co-chairs will arrive in Armenia. The paper says after the visit of the co-chairs the foreign ministers of the three countries will meet and discuss the issues on preparation for the meeting of the presidents.
The semi-weekly also writes about the appeal of the Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to the National Assembly with a proposal to declare amnesty. The paper says though no details on the project of the amnesty are being revealed, it learnt that it may relate to 2000 arrestees 400 of which will appear in freedom and the sentence of the rest will be cut. The paper says the main goal of the amnesty is to set free political prisoners though the authorities do not confess it.
The daily Azg referred in its today's issue to a recent report by Regnum news agency which claimed that the Union of Armenians of Russia is going to spend $90 million for the recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia's independence.
The paper says it has learned that the Union has denied the report, accusing Regnum of publicizing unverified information. "We have to remind the Regnum's administration that this is not the first time their agency is publicizing unverified and untrue report, referring to the Union of Armenians of Russia", read the statement's union.
