Grigor Janikyan: ‘ASALA’s Example Must be Inspiring for the New Generation’

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS: The example of the heroes of the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia (ASALA) must be inspiring for the new generation for achieving the desired end of the Armenian fair struggle, according to Grigor Janikyan, writer, publicist. He said today at the presentation of his ‘The Armenian Cause in Paris’ book that the book was not published for 10 years for lack of financial means.

The RA Culture Ministry involved the book in the list of books on the Armenian Genocide and by this the book was called into being. It was published with 500 copies. ‘The 21-23-year-old boys from Beirut – the soldiers of ASALA – became a live legend. They go on living and acting in the homeland and for the homeland,’ Grigor Janikyan said. According to Vazgen Sislyan, commander of ASALA’s ‘Van’ action, their struggle still continues, however the means were changed. ‘It is not proper to call our actions a terror, because we endeavored to restore our rights,’ Vazgen Sislyan noted.
