YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS: Today Yerevan Municipality awarded the Yerevan State University-affiliated special physical-mathematical school after Artashes Shahinyan with ‘Yerevan’ gold memorial medal on the 45th anniversary of establishment of the school for ensuring high quality of education. Angela Nazaryan, deputy principal of the school, and Tigran Margaryan, teacher of math at the school, were awarded with gold memorial medal by the RA education and science ministry.

A number of teachers and workers of the school were awarded with diplomas and certificates by the ministry. ‘I say it with deep pain that 80% of our graduates achieved success abroad, our potential in Armenia is small: many of our friends and fellow-students are abroad. We must remain in Armenia and make our country more beautiful,’ according to Gagik Beglaryan, mayor of Yerevan, graduate of the school. Academician Artashes Shahinyan took the initiative of founding the YSU-affiliated special physical-mathematical school in 1965. The school was founded by the decision of the Government of Soviet Armenia.
