Center for Georgian Studies opens at Yerevan State Linguistic University after Valery Brusov

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 15, ARMENPRESS: A Center for Georgian Studies and an auditorium of the Georgian language opened today in the Yerevan State Linguistic University after Brusov. Armenian Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan, his Georgian counterpart Dmitry Shashkin and the delegation headed by him partook in the opening ceremony.

According to Armen Ashotyan, this is the first visit of the Georgian Minister of Science and Education to Armenia over the last 3, 5 years, and an attempt is made to activate the relations. “The idea of establishing the center developed during my visit to Tbilisi,” the minister said, adding that this is a very important event not only from the viewpoint of Armenian-Georgian political relations, but is also a fine opportunity of inter-cultural exchange.

“This is a very important day, we made an enormous step by opening of the center,” Mr. Shashkin said, stressing that the opening of the center is a good example for improving cultural and political relations between the two countries.

Rector of the Yerevan State Linguistic University Suren Zolyan also attached importance to opening of the center, noting that it will promote the cultural relations and will be a new ring of Armenian-Georgian contacts.
