“Asian Corner” opened in Avetik Isahakyan Library

YEREVAN, APRIL 20, ARMENPRESS: “Asian Corner” opened today in the branch of Avetisk Isahakyan Central Library, where books representing the culture and economy of China, Kazakhstan and India, journals and other items were presented.

Director of the central library Hasmik Karapetyan said that on the same day five years ago an “American corner” opened in the library, and in 3 years – “A Corner of British Literature”.

According to Indian Ambassador to Armenia Malhotra, the idea of opening of this center is highly appreciable, for it will help Armenians have better idea of the culture of the Asian countries. “All of us are ready to support the development of this corner,” she said.

Lebanese Ambassador to Armenia Gebrail Geara noted that he will soon provide books to the library and a “Lebanon Center” will also open here.

The books and materials were provided to the library by the Embassies of China, Kazakhstan and India in Armenia.

During the event “Victoria” dance ensemble presented Armenian dancing, Chinese songs and poems sounded.

The ambassadors of Kazakhstan and China to Armenia, as well as the art loving society were present at the ceremony.
