Dzhivan Gasparyan receives Star of Commonwealth Prize 2010

YEREVAN, APRIL 9, ARMENPRESS: The names of the first laureates of the CIS Star of Commonwealth Prize 2010 are already announced. The award ceremony was held today at the Pashkov House of the Russian State Library, Moscow.
The award was founded 2009 by the CIS Humanitarian Cooperation Council and the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund. 3 nominees from each member-state of the Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund had been represented for the Star of Commonwealth prize. Star of Commonwealth includes three nominations: achievements in science and education, achievements in culture and arts and achievements in humanitarian activity.
The prizes for the achievements in science education, culture and arts were awarded to Igor Fedorov, rector of the Bauman Moscow Technical University, Pulat Babadzhanov, Tajik astrophysicist, Tair Salakhov, Azerbaijani artist, Sultan Raev, Kyrgyz writer. The prizes for humanitarian activity were awarded to Kazakhstan President’s spouse Sara Nazarbaeva, composer Alexandra Pakhmutova and poet Nikolai Dobronravov. Each of the 9 laureates was awarded 2 million rubles.
On the 65th anniversary of the Victory in Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, a special nomination for the best work which reflects the common contribution of the CIS peoples to the victory against German fascism has been instituted. Famous composer David Tukhmanov was awarded this prize for his song ‘The Day of the Victory’.
World-famous Armenian musician Dzhivan Gasparyan is among the laureates as well. He received Star of Commonwealth prize for his achievements in culture and arts.
