A hydro power plant being constructed in Aygut

GAVAR, DECEMBER 16, ARMENPRESS:There is construction haste along the village of Aygut since August of the running year. The appliance of technical up-to-`date` means and the extensive and multi-content construction have disturbed the tranquility of Getik canyon. “Griar” Construction Company is constructing a hydro power plant on Getik River of Aygut village of Gegharkunik province. An official from Gegharkunik governor office told Armenpress that this program is a great achievement and innovation with its nature not only in the province of Gegharkunik, but also in the Republic of Armenia. Head of the organization’s district construction Vardan Ghazaryan said that the extensive works of the construction of the hydro power plant have started in the community of Aygut since August 1 at the expense of the investments of “Griar” company. Thirty units engineering is working in the territory. As of the first 10 days of December, 70 percent of the works have been implemented. The conduit is extended with a length of 7 km. Quite powerful turbines are to be placed, which will allow to produce electricity all year round. Turbines will produce energy even in case of the weakest stream of the river. Director of “Griar” CJSC Arthur Yordanyan noted that “Getik” hydroelectric power plant will provide electricity of 5, 2 megawatt power. The works are intended to accomplish by August of 2010. Sixty employees are involved in the construction works of the hydroelectric power plant, 30 of which are the residents of Aygut. Their salary varies from 150 to 250 thousand Drams monthly. After the exploitation of the hydroelectric power plant the produced electricity will be joined to Armenian general energy net. Hydroelectric power plants are being constructed in other areas of the province as well.
