ANNUAL RECITATION FESTIVAL DEDICATED TO 100-TH ANNIVERSARY OF WILLIAM SAROYAN ANNOUNCED IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS:An annual recitation festival dedicated to the 100-th anniversary of the American-Armenian writer William Saroyan is announced in Armenia. The public relations department of the Armenian Education and Science Ministry told Armenpress that the festival will be held in two stages - regional and republican. In the regional state of the festival pupils of 9-11 grades guaranteed by the “Armenian Language and Literature” methodical units of schools will take part. The winners of the regional stage will take part in the republican stage of the festival. The participants of the republican stage will present a piece from W. Saroyan’s works within the limits of half page with their choice, as well as two poems by Armenian writers. This stage will be conducted in two parts: the first part will be held in the Charents house-museum and the second in the Tzakhadzor’s creative house of the Armenian Writers’ Union. Forty-six pupils from Armenian regions will participate in the first part of the republican stage of the festival, 18 of which will have an opportunity to fight for getting awards. Prizes for the first, second and third places as well as encouraging prizes are established. The festival will be organized by the Armenian Education and Science Ministry in collaboration with the Armenian Writers’ Union and leadership of Charents house-museum.
