“HANDABERD MONASTERY AND ITS EXCAVATIONS” BOOK PREPARED FOR PUBLISHING

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 10, ARMENPRESS:The specialists of the Archeology and Ethnography Institute of the National Academy of Sciences prepared “Monastery of Handaberd and its Excavations” illustrated book for publishing. The excavations of the monastery, which is situated in Karabakh’s New Shahumian region, were carried out by an Artsakh archeological group in 2004-2005. The head of the excavation group Hamlet Petrosian told Armenpress that during the excavations more than 200 cross-stones and 100 epitaphs in Armenian were found in the small monastery during excavations.
