YEREVAN AUTHORITIES TO PLANT 100 HECTARES OF TREES

YEREVAN, JANUARY 30, ARMENPRESS:Yerevan authorities are planning to plant trees and bushes on 100 hectares of land this year. Thirty hectares of land will be planted by the Yerevan municipality and the rest by district communities. Avet Martirosian, chief of a municipality department in charge of ecology, said some 110,000 trees will be planted in Yerevan this year. As a result, he said, per capita green area in the capital city is expected to grow from the current 6,2 square meters to 7.5 meters. Under the city’s master plan, by 2020 Yerevan is supposed to triple its green areas to raise per capita area to almost 20 square meters.
