OUT-EMIGRATION FROM GYUMRI STILL HIGH

GYUMRI, DECEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS:Out-emigration from the northwestern province of Shirak continues and according to local statistical authorities, some 1,700 people left it in January-October of this year. The negative migration rate was reported mainly in the administrative center of the province Gyumri. But simultaneously, the number of repatriates in this time span grew 33 percent making 896 people. The main reason behind out-emigration is unemployment. The majority of those leaving are young males.
