Armenia’s Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Zhanna Andreasyan, received France’s newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia, Florian Escudié.

According to the ministry, Andreasyan congratulated the ambassador on taking up his diplomatic mission in Armenia and wished him a productive and successful tenure. She expressed hope that the strategic partnership between Armenia and France would reach a new level during his time in office.

“Our countries have a broad cooperation agenda, particularly in education, culture and sport. The ministry reaffirms its readiness to consistently develop the multifaceted cooperation between Armenia and France,” she said.

The newly appointed ambassador thanked the minister for the meeting and stressed the importance of a consistent policy of developing relations with Armenia.

The two sides discussed key areas of cooperation, including expanding the activities of French educational institutions in Armenia—the French Institute, the French University in Armenia and the Anatole France French International Educational Complex—implementing new joint programmes and strengthening ties between institutions in both countries. In this context, they highlighted the use of artificial intelligence and the promotion of French language teaching.

Particular emphasis was placed on Armenia’s hosting of the 10th Francophonie Games, combining sport and culture, in 2027. Andreasyan said preparations were under way, coordinated by her ministry. Discussions on current organisational matters highlighted the involvement of volunteers and the organisation of French language courses.

The meeting also addressed cultural cooperation, emphasising long-term partnerships between museums, galleries and libraries, and programmes to restore Armenia’s cultural heritage, particularly monuments.
