Almarex Aviation Ventures plans to launch regular air cargo flights to the United Arab Emirates in early November to ensure the safe and affordable transport of Armenian agricultural products.

Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan announced the plans on his Facebook page.

“I received Almarex Aviation Ventures co-founder Makar Petrosyan and Director Paruyr Vardanyan. Deputy Minister Arman Khojoyan also attended the meeting.

“Export diversification is one of the priorities of our country’s economic agenda, and the United Arab Emirates is an important market for Armenia in this context. This initiative aligns with the government’s priorities and will create new opportunities to increase exports of Armenian products,” the minister wrote.

According to the company’s director, air freight for exports from Armenia will cost US$2.20 per kilogram, although changes in certain factors could allow the price to fall. The flights will use a Boeing 737-800 aircraft, capable of carrying around 20 tonnes of cargo per flight.

“Emphasising the importance of rapid delivery when exporting fresh agricultural produce, I welcomed the business community’s willingness to cooperate with the government in this area and expressed hope that it would help increase the volume of Armenian products reaching international markets.

“If the initiative is implemented successfully, opportunities to organise similar flights to other destinations will also be considered,” the minister added.
